David Ris > While Jazz Fest always includes some "big name performers", we typcially spend most of our time at the "smaller" stages listening to artists who are not well known. The fact is that all of the musicians who play at Jazz Fest are some of the best in the world, whether they are well known are not. We always see top notch performances, such as that put on by Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience.

David Ris > Forget American Idol. If you want to see real talent, come to Jazz Fest. One example is Kim Prevost, who lit up this venue.

David Ris > DC native, and now a displaced New Orleanian, Betsy McGovern. Betsy and her group The Poor Clares are some of the best Irish/Celtic musicians anywhere.

David Ris > Gerry O'Beirne, who performed with Betsy McGovern's group. Apparently he is a real star in his home country. I can understand why.
